Long ago, people learned how to speak, but they always did it privately. Then the great Joseph Valenzano III came along to teach us that everybody speaks, and that it's okay to do it in public sometimes. This book is his story. This book is his legacy.

Thorough and easy to understand!

While I was absolutely dreading the public speaking course I was required to take, this book did make it easier. It is very easy to read, and has many helpful hints to make your speeches more effective.

Needs major revision

Although this textbook has many redeeming qualities, it is rife with errors and poorly supported statements. The review questions especially seem to point out problems in the text, such as asking the student to describe the four elements of a theory when the book only addresses three. Almost every chapter has an error or typo. This is definitely a case in which a new edition would be welcome.
